Start-up "Aufklärwerk" wins sustainability award of GROW start-up competition
Aufklärwerk is a digital platform for the mediation of social education and encounter offers, i.e. for example lectures, workshops, guided tours and the like. "We are convinced that prejudices and thus discrimination can be reduced through dialog and exchange," say the two company founders Johannes Kurz (Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences) and Felix Xiong (KIT). Together with their team, they want to establish Airbnb for social organizations. The idea for this was born in the fall of 2020 in the university group Enactus KIT e.V., an association for social innovation.
With Aufklärwerk, the team was now able to win the Sustainability Award worth 6,000 euros of the GROW start-up competition, one of the best-known competitions for start-ups in the Karlsruhe region, hosted by PionierGarage. Of this year's prize, 5,000 euros will be sponsored by the Academy for Responsible Research, Teaching, and Innovation (ARRTI). This prize is awarded to the project of the best ten of the total of 50 participating start-ups from the final round that most convinces the jury of its sustainability - ecological or social.
